So What if Google wants to take over the world...

So let me see...
...my computer experience (in order of exposure)
Apple Basic, x86 machine code and assembler, basicA, IBM DOS, Moto 6800 machine code, PC-DOS, MS-DOS, Gem, Mac OS, every version of Windows, Unix, Linux. I've used standard commercial, consumer, and custom industrial applications for all of the above in some way, shape or form.
Now I don't claim to be an expert in use or programming of any of the above...but I've been exposed to them in some varying degree in my life as a technician for the last 23 years....

....and NONE of them has worked as well out of the box as anything that Google has done.
That alone should make anything they do worth the trouble to try (not to mention that it's almost always free ;) ). Google has yet to pull a bait-and-switch and start charging for something that it has given away (except Google answers, but I don't know if that was ever free). Google seems to strive to make everything they do as simple and fast to use as is possible. Just look at the speed of Google maps, they even put stand-alone-on-your-hard-drive applications to shame with the drag & scalability ability of their maps.

A Google office suite wasn't just a possibility, it was inevitable. While I am always cautious of my online security, I have yet to knowingly loose any detrimental personal information because of Google, gmail, Blogger, or any other Google associated product. I do have some concerns for Goffice...mainly do I have to save any documents created online, or can I save them exclusively to my drive (hard, flash, or otherwise)? Can anyone besides me see a document just because I created it via the Goffice center? Do I have to be online to use Goffice, or can I load a minimum install on a flash drive and use it on isolated boxes?

Well...we'll find out this afternoon...
Gos can't be far behind.

Update: Sigh...just a "We're working on something" blurb...
...but you can bet that something is Goffice...or maybe Goonix? :D ;)
