Waytoomuchstuffandtoolittletime

First off: A much delayed "Happy Birthday" to the Mrs, which we got to celebrate (finally) this past weekend by seeing Peter Frampton (again) at the Genesee Theater. If you ever get to see a show at the Genesee, and they offer you the optional VIP lounge (email invite only, $20 a person), be sure to pop for it. They only sell 60 of them, so it does not get crowded (but you have to act fast if invited). A decent spread of food (drummette's, mini-sandwiches, stuffed artichoke hearts, and fresh fruit) and a full bar are included. If you eat and have one drink, you've more than got your money's worth.

Tech stuff: The Mrs.' wonderful Nokia headset died last week (batteries are shot) after several years of use. While I could replace them (NiMH micro sub-C size), by the time I pop for their replacements and shipping (not a stock item anywhere), I've spent $15 and a fair amount of time waiting and soldering/installing. So when I saw a deal on a Ativa (store brand) from Office Depot this weekend, I decided to jump at it. The deal is even better than the link posted, as after rebates the headset was only $9 (I got one as well), that includes chargers for both home and the car. It's my first experience with an Ativa product; so far we're both very impressed with the operation, comfort and sound. It's a earbud style AND over the ear combined, which is surprisingly comfortable. The earbud has a black silicone "seal" around it, which is very soft and works well (though it shows and attracts lint). The volume range is impressive, though all the way up is too loud for most humans (and a bit distorted to boot), the low end is quiet but clear. I don't even get why they bothered to make the headset get that loud, but I suppose in the correct environs, you might want it that loud. Nice touches include separate +/- volume controls (instead of a rocker or wheel) and a few extras features like mute (+/- together) and call refuse/ignore ( push and hold the answer button till you hear the dump tone). So far, it seems an exceptional value.

Aldi Alert: Aldi is at it again with computers, and the current one is their typical excellent deal.
I'm so-so on current AMD's with Vista, but it's one of AMD's fastest chips, which should last most home users 3-5 years of use before it's a slug.

Lastly, daughter #1's first Homecoming dance is next weekend, I'll be the chauffeur. She's a knockout in the dress the Mrs. found for her. The Mrs. is on top of it....me.....I'm a wreck.

Time....moving....faster......must....slow.....it down...
