Palm Centro

Palm Centro, seems almost perfect....almost.

Not to much to dislike about this device, especially the price, but like the iphone, it's tied down to a mediocre provider (Sprint), one that I'm not willing to switch to anytime soon. So c'mon VERIZON, get it in gear and start providing the Centro before my next contract is up!
For $99 bucks I could switch to this phone from my current separate devices (Moto Razr and Dell Axim PDA) and not be wanting for anything.....anything that is, except for a bigger screen, but that may be moot as it has the current Treo's resolution at that smaller screen size. I'd have to spend time with one to decide if it could be used for an e-book reader (%50 of my PDA use). All my pocket docs could be used with Doc's-to-go, and I'm already synced to Outlook, so getting my docs, contacts, and e-books in to the Centro would be a snap, and all in an O.S. I'm already familiar with (and a price I'm willing to pay).
It'll be interesting to see if Palm with offer a Centro windows versions like they did with the Treo, I think they will, but not for $99. I could live with either, but would opt for whichever one had longer battery life or the lower price tag.

A nod to Matt Miller at ZDnet for providing this info to me first. A quick search indicated it's been leaked for a while now, but honestly, today was the first I'd seen or heard of it.

Palm Centro is significantly smaller and lighter than Treo 700, and its smooth plastic case feels comfortable in the hand. Came across something interesting on Palm Centro at
