October....busy....busy...BUSY!!!!
Week 2 was a doosie! We had our 22nd anniversary tied in with daughter #1's very first Homecoming Dance. For our 22nd we couldn't go to the place where we had our reception (Heidelberger Fass, it closed years ago, it is now Feed the Beast). We didn't eat there (the current place has been stripped to the walls of any hint of the former german eatery), we went instead to the Chicago Brauhaus, which has the right food, but is flamboyantly goofy compared with the relaxed fine dining experience we used to have at Heidelberger Fass.
Here's a postcard from that era:
The next day was daughter #1's first Homecoming dance, I was needless to say, nearly in shambles, and you can see why from this photo (young lady in red):
When I picked her up afterwards, her comment was: "I've never had that much fun with friends in my life!".
....I guess it was a good dance.
The next week, she was outside school and thought she was hit by a bird, but instead it was a Carolina Sphinx Moth, I'll replace this image with the one from her camera phone when I get a chance:
Since she has her mothers deathly fear of Moths, she was quite freaked at first, but when they saw how beautiful and docile the moth was (rare for around here, especially for this time of year), they all took pics of it.
This weekend we carved pumpkins at my cousin Dawn's house and made a visit to Sonny Acre's farm for their excellent Haunted Hayride (scary fun).
I'll get to that roll-on yet.
