A little too much.....

I am bit torn about the new dem congress. On the one hand, I think it's good to balance out the Prez for the remainder of his term, but everyone in the party is just a little over the top about payback and the "Republican culture of corruption".
....ya know, people who live in glass houses and all.....

I also think it could become a problem when the next Prez is elected, as they could actually queer (no pun intended) the chances for a Dem president by going too overboard with the Republican bashing (of course, that never stopped the elephants making "liberal" a dirty word during the last six years) and magnificent leaps to the left (the usual knee jerk reaction of most congressional washes (respective of their own parties)). The biggest casualty of the biggest news in this change could be Hillary Clinton. While I think it's wonderful that Nancy Pelosi was made speaker, I think it sends a message to Hillary that many Dem's really don't want her as Prez. My thinking on this is it may a bit much to expect even borderline democrats to put in a woman Prez when the speaker seat is held by one as well. I don't even agree with my own thinking at the personal level, but after 6 years of religious right, I don't see the whole country going that far left.
I can't in good conscience possibly support Obama, he's got the stuff, but two things (even as a dem) I don't want to see in my lifetime are a gay marriage amendment, and any further relaxation of abortion laws at a national level. Even though she has talked otherwise, I think these are both items Hillary would hold the line one when it came down to it.....but alas, I don't think Hillary could beat Obama in the primary. If she does, I have a dem to vote for.....if not.... that leaves me with the other party.

One name is the only one I would vote for: John McCain
